Northern, VA — The Virgin Islands Veterans Association (VIVA) is pleased to help spread the word about the Sapphire Sole Stroll, a walking event for women veterans hosted by fellow 501(c)(3) nonprofit Hampton Roads Sapphire Veterans, Inc. The event will take place Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach.

Under the theme “Women Who Served—Let’s Walk, Connect, and Thrive Together!” the Sole Stroll invites women veterans of every branch and era to a morning of fitness, fellowship, and meaningful conversation. Whether participants prefer a brisk workout pace or a comfortable stroll, the gathering is designed around movement, motivation, sisterhood, and the unique bonds formed by military service.

“Women veterans deserve spaces built specifically for them — spaces that recognize their service and support their well-being,” said a VIVA representative. “Hampton Roads Sapphire Veterans is doing exactly that, and VIVA is proud to amplify their work. Events like the Sole Stroll strengthen the entire veteran community across Hampton Roads, and we encourage every eligible woman veteran — including our Virgin Islands sisters in the mainland diaspora — to lace up and take part.”

The Hampton Roads region is home to one of the largest concentrations of women veterans in the nation, as well as a growing community of Virgin Islands diaspora families. VIVA’s outreach to this region — including its developing VIVA-VAB Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads associate chapter — is anchored in partnerships with mission-aligned organizations like Hampton Roads Sapphire Veterans, Inc.
